Keeping Your Whole Family Safe This Season Including Your Pets!

Family with dog

Here at Mosquito Sheriff, we want to keep your whole family safe, including your pets. That’s right animals can be bitten by mosquitos too! Mosquitos are not picky when they are looking for their next bite. We’re animal lovers and we care about keeping your furry family members safe too this season.

Many pet owners are familiar with the common dangers of insects like ticks and fleas but tend to overlook mosquitos. Mosquitos are one of the deadliest insects in the world. They carry many viruses that can make an animal sick and even kill them.

Just like we protect ourselves from the diseases mosquitos carry, we need to protect our animals the same way. Mosquitos will look for any source of a bloodmeal to develop their eggs. They bite because they need to bite, therefore they are not picky. Some mosquitos will be picky on who they will feast on, while others will feed on who ever or whatever is in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Mosquito bites are not just an annoying nuisance to your dog’s skin, they can also carry heartworm disease. When a mosquito bites, it can pass heartworms to your dog affecting its heart and lungs. It just takes one mosquito bite from the wrong mosquito to infect your dog.

Heartworm Disease:

Heartworm disease is a serious disease that results in severe lung damage, heart failure, other organ damage, and death in pets, mainly dogs. The worms spread through the bite of a mosquito. The dog is the definitive host of the worms. The worms mature into adults, mate, and reproduce, while living inside the dog. The worms are called “heartworms” because they primarily live inside of the heart of the dog.

Heartworm disease is not contagious. It cannot spread from dog to dog. Heartworm disease can only be spread through mosquito bites. The key to protecting your dog and other pets is starting with the proper yard care.

Protecting our home is the key piece in this puzzle. We need to ensure that our property is as safe as can be in keeping mosquitos away. Every home is different and not all families are created equally. Some fur families consist of dogs and cats, while others branch out to a farm with horses and cows. Thinking of the right protection in the beginning of the season is a must.

– I was looking for a Non-Toxic/Natural way to handle the mosquitos and ticks problem as my children and pets are always in the garden, so my friend recommended me to this company, they shared a lot of information and insight and the process was easy to follow.
